Children’s Health

Children have special health requirements. They have an immature physiology and their specific nutritional requirements vary from those of adults. When formulating treatment plans for children I take particular note of their specific needs and their stage of development. In my clinic I have helped children with a wide variety of health care needs.

Neurological Function

Behavioural and cognitive difficulties can disrupt the learning ability of some children. It is critical that the developing brain receives the nutrition it needs and that neurotransmitter function is optimal.

Common indications:

  • Learning
  • Memory
  • Concentration
  • Cognitive development
  • Nervous system function
  • Insomnia
  • Stress and anxiety

Immunity

T-helper polarisation can predispose children to atopic conditions and poor immunity. Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a recurring, non-infectious, inflammatory skin condition affecting one in three Australasians at some stage throughout their lives.

Common immunological conditions include:

  • Eczema
  • Upper respiratory complaints
  • Allergy, hayfever, sinusitus
  • Ear infections
  • Coughs and colds

Gastrointestinal Health

Gastrointestinal function is fundamental to a child’s health and linked to immune regulation, neurological development and growth.

Common clinical presentations include:

  • Leaky gut
  • Dysbiosis
  • Gut flora disruption
  • Diarrhoea
  • Poor digestive function
